Hanna Expands ChooseWell to New Heights
May 12, 2014
The Town of Hanna is taking the Community Choosewell initiative to new heights this year with the celebration of a new feature in Centennial Place. The facility now boasts a bouldering wall to encourage youth and families to challenge themselves by finding new direction and reaching new heights with a fun active activity.
This unique climbing feature is a great addition to the facility and works in well with the philosophy that directs activities based in the centre – active, healthy living and positive choices.
Choosewell was well represented at the February 28, 2014 Bouldering Wall Grand Opening with a variety of choosewell prizes for those in attendance, fun games and activities and of course there was some climbing going on!
“We are very pleased with the support from the Alberta Recreation and Parks Association ChooseWell Team who provided their encouragement and support, great ideas and appropriate items for door prizes. The evening was an opportunity for everyone to be involved – from the formal ribbon cutting ceremonies and then in being active and having fun!”
Hanna Freson Bros provided the healthy snacks for the evening as part of their on-going support for Community Choosewell in Hanna.
The Bouldering Wall project evolved through the community desire to provide opportunities for youth to explore and push their personal boundaries - without alcohol and drugs. Partners involved with the project were Hanna and District Youth Club, Town of Hanna, and Alberta Health Services – Addictions (Drumheller Office), along with volunteers James Wainwright, Rebecca Klenk, and Darcy Magnussen of the Valard Construction Company.
